Simchat Torah

10/15/2025

Today is a holiday on the Hebrew calendar that you may have never heard of! It is Simchat Torah. What is Simchat Torah? It is the ninth day of Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles) that is set aside to celebrate a love for God's word.

I fell in love with God's word 21 years ago. In desperation for answers and change, I began to read the Bible, listen to CD teachings (there was no streaming at the time!), and work through Bible studies. From the time I was 15, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I went all the way through college and the first part of grad school with the intention of being a high school biology teacher. However, the Lord intersected my plans when I got married, moved to a new city, and had a son. The love of teaching was still firmly rooted in my heart, but He shifted the subject I fell in love with!

For the past 21 years, I have studied the Bible and finished my post-graduate degrees not in Biology, but in Biblical studies. I was blessed to learn about the original Hebrew language for the past eight years, which took my love of God's Word to a whole new level! Now, my heart and calling are to share it with others! I want you to love God's Word as much as I do and see that it is not simply a book to be read, but it is life itself when you approach it as the living breath of God written on pages. Discipleship classes, books, teachings, this Substack, and everything coming in 2026 are meant to share this love with you and equip you to fall in love with God's Word as well!

Today, on Simchat Torah, join me in rejoicing that we have God's Word as the food our spirits and souls need and the truth that sets us free! As the words of the Psalmist declare, If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction (Psalm 119:92, ESV).

May God's word always be our delight and guide that lights our paths.

Blessings,

Brandee
