Do You See Me? an understanding of creating strong connection

We were made to connect with God and with other people. Relationships were created to be safe spaces to share the inner depths of our souls. However, God was always supposed to be at the center of those connections. When sin entered the world, shame, fear, and pride interfered with God's perfect design, affecting our connection with God and each other—self-protective methods of relating led to insecure attachment.

What is attachment? Attachment is the way we connect with others and with God. The way we learn to connect to others as children has a profound effect on the way we connect with others as adults. We make brain-to-brain connections with other people through mirror neurons that communicate the unspoken message: you want to be with me, or you reject me. Which message we consistently perceive will drive all our connections, even our connection with God.

The good news is that even if we did not have healthy connections as children, God created our brains to be able to shift and change to form healthy connections throughout our lives. When we surround ourselves with others who are seeking God and forming a connection with Him, our brains can heal from the negative impact disconnection may have had on our souls. This class will teach you about healthy and unhealthy connections and how to maintain healthy connections throughout the rest of your life.

In this class, you will learn:

  • Our foundational purpose is to know God. He created us for connection with Himself and other people. How did the fall affect these connections?

  • What are mirror neurons, and why are they important?

  • What is attachment?

  • What is an attachment pattern?

  • What are secure and insecure attachment patterns? What impact does our attachment style have on our relationships?

  • How do we heal our minds from insecure attachment patterns to build stronger relationships and connections with other people?
